Miracle in Music City, by Natalie Grant, latest installment in the Faithgirlz Glimmer Girls Series, will warm your young girl’s heart. This book has a little bit of everything for your middle grade reader: friendship struggles, a mystery to solve, and a message that is so beautiful, I teared up while reading it.
In this third title in the Faithgirlz Glimmer Girls series by Natalie Grant, Miracle in Music City, the Glimmer Girls are at it again—looking for a mystery to solve. Gloria wants her daughters to learn they aren’t too young to make a difference, so she gets them involved in her annual benefit and auction. But as things often do with the trio of smart and sassy sisters, they get themselves and their nanny Miss Julia involved in a lot more than just helping mom raise money for a worthy and wonderful cause.
This was such a wonderful book. As a parent, it did take me a bit to get into as I read it to my 9 year old. It starts off as your standard book for girls this age. The twin girls, Mia and Maddie, return to school to find their best-friends are a little stand-offish. But this isn’t the only struggle Mia and Maddie, along with their younger sister, Lulu, must face. From helping their parents with a benefit for a homeless shelter, to helping solve the mystery of a very valuable auction item that goes missing, these girls (and the reader) learn a lot.
I wasn’t expecting much from this book, but I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of the message. The girls learn to check their pride, evaluate the sincerity of their actions, and trust God through some pretty tough situations.
Full stars, and then some, for this wonderful book!
